Updated information on a possible Rails to Trails project on LIPA property from Port Jefferson to Wading River will be given at a second meeting on the project on Nov. 28, 7 p.m. at the Rocky Point VFW Hall.
The first meeting, held back in July, was held to give basic information and receive early feedback on the project headed by the Suffolk County Department of Public Works and consulting firm, the RBA Group. At that meeting, it was estimated the project would cost around $8-10 million, with 80 percent of the funding coming from the federal government and the rest by local government.
Since that meeting, Legis. Sarah Anker has been asking the community for feedback on the project with many in support and many opposed as well. This second meeting is designed to provide up to date information about the program and gather more input from the community as well.
