Two individuals were sent to the hospital Saturday night after a car crash on Route 25, according to the Miller Place Fire Department.
MPFD First Assistant Chief Kyle Markott said one individual was sent to St. Charles Hospital, and another to Mather Hospital after a crash occurred on Route 25A, near Miller Place Road, around 10:45 p.m.
The in Miller Place officially closed down last week, and now the owners are looking to sell.
A once popular spot for some locals offering live music and other programs along with coffee, drinks and food, Beanberry was unable to sustain business and now they are looking for someone to buy, according to the daughter of the building owner, Helen Haghani.
"They have a few people interested and we’ve had a few people who came in," Haghani said. "They are not doing business right now, but they are trying to sell.
Two people fell into the Long Island Sound on Sunday evening when the 14-foot kayak they were in overturned after hitting a large wave, according to police.
At about 5:22 p.m., a 911-caller told police that the pair were in the water about 3/4 of a mile off of Harbor Beach Road in Mount Sinai. Marine Bureau Police Officers John Vahey and Terry McGovern rescued Jessica Strawn, 29, of Sunnyside, and Luis Rodriguez, 29, of Glendale, and brought them to the dock at Harbor Beach Road along with their kayak.
Major General Patrick A. Murphy, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, recently announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard, including Steven Cuervo of Rocky Point.
In recognition of his "capability for additional responsibility and leadership," Cuervo, serving with the Company D, 3-126 Aviation, was promoted to the rank of Specialist.
Miller Place graduate Ambrose Henri Teniozo recently produced a music video mashup of the current hits "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction and ""You Da One" by Rihanna starring other grads and students and uploaded it to YouTube.
The video, entitled "What Makes You Da One" and uploaded on July 19, already has over 1,000 hits. It features Katrina Rose Svoboda, Teniozo, Phil Gape, Joshua Seidner, Justin Miller, Evan Nicholas and Yigit Gol. The crew and extras are Mert Teniozo, Alex Cicillini, Amanda Talbot and Travon Newman.
