Cops: Rocky Point Man Driving Drunk With Toddler Charged After Crash

A 34-year-old Rocky Point man was charged with a felony under Leandra’s Law on Friday after Southampton Town police said he struck a utility pole in Speonk head-on — his two-year-old was in the car.

According to police, Timothy Shaw, who had a prior DWI conviction, was slapped with a second felony for DWI, as well as with charges of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor; open alcohol in a motor vehicle and several other traffic violations.

The Miller Place Fire Department is used to battling blazes in the area, but on New Year's Eve, members of the department had to tackle a fire in their own firehouse.

At 11:05 a.m. on Monday, First Assistant Chief Josh Hagermann was at the headquarters on Miller Place Road when the fire alarms starting sounding and smoke was found in the truck bay of the firehouse.

A man is wanted by police for allegedly stealing a purse from the Rocky Point Waldbaum's and using credit cards from the purse at TD Bank.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Seventh Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man seen above, who is wanted for grand larceny after stealing a woman's pocketbook from Waldbaum's on Nov. 1.
