Play N Trade in Miller Place recently closed down, and the vacant space has led to two businesses relocating.

will be moving into the vacant Play N Trade location next door in the Shopping Center, and the Rocky Point Sprint store will be moving from it's location on the corner of Route 25A and Rocky Point-Yaphank Road into the Dee Jo's location.

A Miller Place man and two others looking to collect on a debt face kidnapping and robbery charges after they held a New Jersey restaurant owner in the store’s basement and demanded money at gunpoint, police said Thursday.

The trio went to Gateway of India in Teaneck N.J. around noon on May 19 looking for the owner, who was said to owe one of the men money, Detective Lt. Andrew McGurr said. The group corralled employees and took the owner into the store’s basement.

The Mount Sinai School Board met on Thursday to adopt the revised budget after the original New York State tax cap-piercing budget to pass.

According to Linda Jensen, Mount Sinai's Assistant Superintendent for Business, the board adopted a new budget in the amount of $54,629,115. The adoption of the budget was the only item on the agenda. The new budget will now need a simple majority (over 50 percent) to pass and brings a loss of some clubs and athletics.

After announcing changes to the administration for the 2012-13 school year, the Miller Place School Board explained the changes at the Board of Education meeting Wednesday night.

The Board made the changes official as president John Magnani explained their thinking and future plans. Magnani said that the change from within was made because of continuity and stability after having three superintendents in four years was necessary. He also explained that an outside search would have come at an extra cost of $25,000 to the district.
