Week in Review: Mt. Sinai's Budget Passes on Second Try

The Mt. Sinai school district's revised 2012-13 budget has passed, keeping the district off an austerity budget for the upcoming school year that would have brought severe cuts to the schools.

Almost six months after applying for their New York State micro brewery license, the Rocky Point Artisan Brewers have finally become licensed, according to a report on local blog Corks, Caps and Taps.

The trio from Rocky Point, Donavan Hall, Mike Voigt and Yuri Janssen at the North Shore Beach Property Owners Association Clubhouse in Rocky Point every year. Now licensed, the group can begin selling their beer to licensed retailers.

The opening of Moe's Southwest Grill in Rocky Point has been highly anticipated since that the chain restaurant would be arriving in Rocky Point.

Jennifer Maertz, D-Rocky Point, recently announced that she has received an endorsement from the GLBT Democrats of Long Island (Formerly GLBT Democrats of Suffolk County); the group's first endorsement in 2012.

Maertz, having declared her candidacy in early February, was r, D-Noyack. That primary vote is scheduled for Sept. 13.
