Dear Community Members,

My name is Kara Patrovic and as most of you know, I am a freshman in Miller Place High School and have been sponsoring a young boy in Tarija, Bolivia named Mijael through ChildFund to make sure he gets by day to day with food and education.

This year, I have decided I would like to visit him and bring toys and supplies to his family and friends. For the last couple of months, I have been fundraising so that I can reach my goal.

I would like to thank you for coming down to my fundraiser at Wendy's!! It was a great turn out and I raised 765 dollars for my cause!!

I am asking you to please come to my next fundraiser a Car Wash at Applebee's on Saturday, July 7, between 10 and 1pm. Please see my flyer below. I am also having a yard sale on Saturday, July 21st and Sunday, July 22nd from 8am-4pm.

For more informationon how you can donate toys, supplies, money, or other ways you can help, pleasee-mail me at kara2mijael@gmail.com or visit www.facebook.com/kara2mijael (You don’t have to be a Facebook member to visit the page.) If you“LIKE” my page, you will receive updates on the progress of the fundraiser.

Spoken like a true teacher. Did you know that the average school teacher is only paying 15% of theRead More actual cost of health care premiums for themselves and their families, when Medical healthcare insurance premiums are rising at an alarming 17% per annum? Do you realize that teachers are paid an additional stipend if they work more than 3 consecutive periods in a day? Are you aware that teacher pensions were protected during the stock market crash of 2008, when the average person's 401K was totally at risk? Perhaps if teachers realized how good they have it - look at the BIG picture and outside of their bubble - then they would complain less. Oh and yes, we need our loftily-paid Administrators to kick in some of the salaries, to help pay for stuff. Hard to believe the school districts' mantras that "it's all for the kids".
