Gun No-Control Laws

Gun control, or lack of it.

In the wake of the shooting in Colorado, I keep thinking, how could James Eagan Holmes buy a military style rifle,  when he's not in the military? Why would anyone sell it to him? Who would buy a gun like that for any purpose other than for evil? The NRA is protected, while the 12 people killed(and all the others injured physically and mentally) weren't. The right to bear arms seems to outweigh our right to be safe.   This man purchased  6000 rounds of ammunition and no red flags were set off???  How can you have a legalized weapon, when you have such a weak system of checks and balances.   Not only is this ignorant, but it's deadly.

And while I do not agree with hunting(but that is for another blog), I will step away from my personal feelings(for a second) and try to look at it from a hunters point of view(thought it's very hard for me).  And while I am trying to be open minded about your hobby, Hunters,  I do not think you have the right to own a gun either.

If there has to be hunting, then you should have to rent a gun, and return it within a specific time period.  And if the gun is not returned, the police should get be alerted to that fact. And before that gun is rented to you, a background check should be ran on you.  Most jobs can't be obtained without a background check, so why should a gun?  Guns are used to shoot.  To kill.  That is their sole purpose.  Isn't it important to see where these guns are, and who has them?  This hobby allows too much room for tragedy. If if needs to exist,  we need to get control over it.

As for guns in the home, they should not be allowed.  Aside from the intentional killings that occur, there are also the accidents.  You should not be allowed to keep a gun in your home.  The bad stories I've heard about guns in the home, outweigh the good stories(I haven't heard of one).  There should be no guns in your home.  Why? Because it's unsafe for me.  We make drugs illegal because if they get into the wrong hands, or are used improperly, there can be deadly consequences.  Why not guns?  It's no more your right to have a gun in your home then it is your right to have heroin.

Gun owners, for reasons I do not understand, have more of a right to own a gun, then I do to feel safe in my environment. You the right to go out and buy 4 guns and 6000 rounds of ammunition, within two months, without questions being asked.  Our government allows this and leaves so many gaps in the gun control laws. Or should I say gaps in the gun no-control laws?

I ask you, how safe do you feel knowing that big brother isn't monitoring the sale of an item that could make a trip to the movies the last trip you ever take?
