A Facebook group called "Hey Long Island... Do U Remember....?" has popped up and is filling up with tons of questions from people all over the Island recalling memories of trends, stores, hangouts, foods and more from the past.
People from the Miller Place-Rocky Point area have also taken to the group to rekindle memories of days past from the area. One of the more popular items in the area has been the old Rocky Point Drive-In.
"Great childhood memories of that place," Marianne Page-Lombardi said of the Drive-In Movie Theatre. "Had the best playground, concession stand and watching the movie from the car while listening through those little static speakers you had to park next to and pull through the driver's window."
Peter Rausch said, "The Son's of Italy in Rocky Point - first venue for an Orange Sunshine gig."
Many have also discussed the old Miller Place Deck Hockey rink, Savino's Restaurant (just past the Mt. Sinai border) and Rubino's Pizza in Sound Beach, which moved accros the street and then closed. now holds the original probably, while is in the newer building just across from the Sound Beach Fire Department.
What do you remember from the Miller Place-Rocky Point days of yore?
