What Was the Area Like When You Were a Kid?

With Twitter trending #BackWhenIWasAKid, we'd like to know about your experiences growing up locally.

It's time to reminisce.

Twitter is great for starting some great, random conversations with its trending topics, and for Wednesday a popular topic trending is #BackWhenIWasAKid.

Many of the responses from Twitter folk are sure to crack a smile. Here are a few (not necessarily from area residents):

*"@hellojohnna#backwheniwasakid I use to play hide and seek, play nintendo64, make forts and laugh at everything. I basically do the same now"

*"@BieberLiveLaugh#backwheniwasakid you put the tv on channel 3 to play video games"

*"@lwimann#backwheniwasakid scooby doo was where it was at #nothingbetter"

*"@YariNicole#backwheniwasakid my mom use to dress me and my sister up exactly the same but sometimes different colors"

While saying "back when I was a kid" might seem to imply an older demographic of Smithtown residents this question is open to everyone, old and young.

So, what was it like growing up in the town? Let's talk about it in the comments.

I see the picture of Mcnultys. I remember when it was a liquor store and then a sporting goods store. We used to buy our sand worms there for fishing.

My faintest memory was a very old storefront just next to pickle packing poppa where that office building stands today. The windows where whitewashed and both stores were empty the building was beat up but it had so much character. I peeked in the windows maybe when I was 6. It was torn down shortly after.
