Brookhaven Lab Worker Injured in Fall

Worker hurt in 16-foot fall Tuesday morning.

A Brookhaven National Laboratory worker was injured after falling approximately 16 feet from a lift at around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a release from BNL, the contractor was stabilized at the scene and transported by ambulance to . He was conscious and talking before he was transported and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

The unidentified man was on a person-lift working at the Lab’s former graphite research reactor which is in the process of being dismantled. He was scanned at the scene for radiation, standard operating procedures, and the scan was negative.

The lab has begun an investigation of the incident and the cause is not yet known.
