Car Crashes into Pole, Knocking it Down on 25A in Miller Place

A car knocked down a pole late Wednesday night; driver sent to hospital with minor injuries.

A car drove into a pole on Route 25A between Tyler Avenue and Harrison Avenue in Miller Place late Wednesday night, knocking the pole onto the roof of Miller Place Bait and Tackle and with minimal damage.

According to police, at 11:10 p.m Wednesday the car hit the pole and wires from the pole were on top of vehicle. The pole then crashed into the building and there was no extensive damage to the building as the pole was leaning on it.

The driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in a Ridge Ambulance. His injuries were non-life threatening and no charges were involved.

Residents on Harrison Avenue in Miller Place reported losing power early Thursday morning around 1 a.m. Long Island Power Authority trucks were seen working on the pole through the morning.
