Cops: Man Slashes Tire With Stolen Pocket Tool

• A 25-year-old St. James man was arrested on misdemeanor petty larceny and criminal mischief charges on Aug. 18. According to police, Mogena was caught on Eagle Road in Rocky Point at midnight with a stolen pocket tool, camera and cell phone, and had slashed the tire of a 2002 Ford Explorer.

• A Rocky Point man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree after police said the 23-year-old was caught with an unopened package of prescription pills on Dogwood Road in Rocky Point around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 18.

• A Patchogue man was arrested on Aug. 18 around 11:15 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors.

According to police, he was pulled over on Route 25A in Rocky Point, found to have three bench warrants as well as a suspended license, and refused to follow directions from a police officer, attempting instead to flee police.

• Christopher Prevete, 19, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested on a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, on Aug. 14. According to police, he was caught on Palm Road in Rocky Point around 4 p.m. with a hallucinogenic substance – police did not specify what – as well as a quantity of marijuana.

• A Port Jefferson man was arrested on Aug. 11 on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. According to police, the man was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on Locust Drive in Rocky Point and was found to be carrying cocaine.

• Sean Ferguson, 31, of Sound Beach, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs on Aug. 13.
