Cops Seek Driver Who Critically Injured Woman in Hit-and-Run

Unidentified woman is in critical condition.

Police are seeking the public's help in finding a driver who injured a female pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday in Mt. Sinai.

The victim, who was not carrying identification, is in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital. Police believe she was jogging when the accident happened. The woman, a Caucasian woman between 50 and 60 years old, is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with reddish-brown shoulder-length hair and a pink-and-white manicure and pedicure. She was wearing a blue and white shirt, black shorts, New Balance sneakers.

The vehicle is described as a tan or light-colored mid-sized car. The accident happened at approximately 11 a.m. on Canal Road just west of Route 83 in Mt. Sinai.

Police are asking anyone with information on the accident or the victim to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls are kept confidential.
