Crime Report: Drug Possession and Fleeing Police Officer

A blotter of the latest arrests and incidents in Miller Place-Rocky Point.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Precinct reported these incidental arrests in Miller Place, Sound Beach, and Rocky Point during March 23-27:

An unidentified male took assorted items from a white Nissan X-Terra parked outside Brugman’s Deli located on Route 25A, Rocky Point on March 6.  Among the assorted items was a credit card which the male used at a BP Gas Station to purchase numerous items.  Suffolk County Crime Stoppers asks anyone with information to come forward.  Any information that leads to an arrest is subject to a $5,000 cash reward.  Crime Stoppers can be contacted at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Kathleen Korb, 22, of Rocky Point was arrested March 28 in Rocky Point and charged with first degree operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs. Reports state Korb was driving her 2011 Nissan northbound on Broadway Ave., when police officers stopped her. Upon being pulled over, the officers discovered she was allegedly impaired by drugs.   

Daniel Pettit, 28, of Mount Sinai was arrested March 25 in Coram and charged with third degree narcotics and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state Pettit allegedly had possession of prescription pills when officers stopped him for a traffic infraction at Pine Rd., and Gregg Lane, Coram.

Michael Palumbo, 24, of Rocky Point was arrested March 25 in Rocky Point and charged with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state Palumbo was allegedly driving without a driver’s license. He was arrested on Rocky Point Landing Rd., Rocky Point.  

John Kaastra, 27, of Rocky Point was arrested March 24 in Sound Beach and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports state Kaastra was arrested on Fishpond Rd., Sound Beach for the alleged possession of drugs.   

Kathleen Andriano, 18, of Rocky Point was arrested March 23 in Farmingville and charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Reports state Andriano was pulled over by police for allegedly not having a driver’s license. Reports indicate she was driving a 2006 Dodge Stratus southbound on Nicolls Rd.    

Nicholas Provenzano, 24, of Rocky Point was arrested March 23 in Middle Island and charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer and resisting arrest. Reports state Provenzano was arrested on Lake Point Dr., Middle Island after he was directed by police officers to stop.  He then allegedly attempted to flee and drove his vehicle recklessly before officers were able to arrest him.
