Police: Man Arrested With Hypodermic Needle in Sound Beach

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk police have arrested a man they say was driving while ability impaired by drugs with two prior arrests within the last 10 years.

Thomas Connolly, 41, of East Setauket, was arrested May 29 at 9 p.m. in Sound Beach. Police stopped him after he allegedly failed to maintain his lane of travel while driving eastbound on Lower Rocky Point Road.

Connolly is charged with second-degree DWAI drugs, with two prior arrests. Police also charged him with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, saying Connolly illegally had the drug Suboxone, an opioid drug used to treat opiate addiction. Police later found a hypodermic needle in his possession and charged him with possession of a hypodermic instrument.

Connolly is set to appear in court June 20.
