Crime Report: Woman Steals From Setauket BJ's

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Shanna Mascia, 21, of Shoreham, was arrested Feb. 7 in Shoreham and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. There was no other information available on this arrest.

Emily Hindman, 25, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with DWAI drugs, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful fleeing of a police office, third degree criminal mischief, and second degree reckless endangerment.

A call came in reporting a possible attempted theft of a snow blower by three individuals on Village Drive in Medford at approximately 1:34am. Police attempted to pull the vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Forerunner, over but it did not stop and the officer pursued. The Toyota continued from Village Drive to westbound Southaven Avenue to northbound on Route 112. Police deployed stop sticks on Route 112, which gave the vehicle two flat tires.

The Toyota continued onto Route 25 where it headed east and stopped near Wilson Ave. in Coram. An officer pulled his police car in front of the stopped Toyota, which moved forward and crashed into the police car passenger side. The driver, Hindman, was the lone occupant and was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured.

Anisa Escobar, 41, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested in Smithtown Feb. 6 and charged with petty larceny. Escobar allegedly stole a television from in Setauket, brought the empty box to the BJs in Islandia, switched it on the shelf for a new television and returned it for a full refund.

Christopher Papile, 26, of Miller Place, was arrested in Nissequogue and charged with fourth degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. Papile was allegedly in possession of a switchblade at the time of his arrest.

Justin Baumgartner, 22, of Rocky Point, was arrested Feb. 4 and charged with criminal mischief – intent to damage property. Baumgartner allegedly punched and shattered the rearview mirror of a 1999 Chrysler Sebring on Route 25 in Coram.
