Crimes Nearby: Man Slashed in Parking Lot of Riverhead Dunkin' Donuts

PORT JEFFERSON

• Frank Telang, 56, a Port Jefferson Station neurologist who was arrested last December and charged with accepting cash in exchange for writing prescriptions for oxycodone and other controlled substances without an examination pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday, according to a statement released by U.S. Attorney’s Office.

RIVERHEAD

• One man was allegedly slashed with a knife in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts in Riverhead early Sunday morning, police said. According to Riverhead police, a dispute occurred at 1:44 a.m. between two men where one man cut another with a knife. But, according to authorities, both men "were not cooperating," and refused to speak to police; no charges were filed.
Although the injured man initially went to Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said he left before receiving treatment.

• Anthony Jenkins, 47, of Riverhead, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor on Nov. 10 at 1:00 a.m. after he was seen on Flanders Road riding a bicycle without lights. Upon investigation, say police, Jenkins was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

NORTH FORK

• Cody Clifford, 18, of Greenport, was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation, and driving on the sidewalk on Nov. 8 at 3:45 p.m., after a police officer attempted to stop Clifford for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 48 in Peconic, police said. Clifford then led police on a chase that lasted approximately four miles. Clifford was arrested and eventually taken into custody.
