Suffolk police are investigating an incident of third-degree grand larceny, a felony, in which someone made multiple returns of stolen merchandise at Lowe's Home Improvements using different identities between Oct. 10 and Oct. 18.
After a fight on Oct. 19 at about 10:40 p.m. between two men on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station, one was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital with a cut above his eye and swelling on his head.
Curtis L. Trent, 22, of Riverhead, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest on Oct. 17 at 8:53 p.m. after Southold Town Police stopped him for traffic violations at the intersection of Eugenes Road and Beebe Drive in Cutchogue, police said. Trent became combative, fighting with the officers at the scene until he was subdued and placed under arrest, police said. Further investigation revealed that Trent was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic for processing and held for arraignment.
Kevin A. Kani, 32, of Hicksville, was charged with DWI drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 17 at 1:47 p.m., after police stopped him for a traffic violation on Route 48 in Mattituck and further investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and in possession of marijuana, police said. The defendant was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held for arraignment.
