Crimes Nearby: Police Search for Brick-Throwing Suspect in Riverside

The following arrest information was supplied by local police departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Port Jefferson

Jose Sanchezreyes, 23, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on June 4 and charged with DWI. Sanchezreyes is also charged with of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries involved. Police say that he crashed into a brick wall at 25A and Maple Avenue while driving a 1994 Nissan Sentra. He then allegedly fled the scene. The crash injured two passengers.

Michael Plantamura, 34, of Port Jefferson, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on June 7 and charged with petty larceny. Plantamura allegedly stole assorted items from the Walmart on Nesconset Highway in East Setauket.

Dimitrios Kostas, 32, of Mount Sinai, was arrested in Mount Sinai on June 5 at about 11:10 p.m. and charged with menacing. Kostas allegedly threatened someone with a baseball bat.

Riverhead

Southampton Town police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are investigating an alleged incident of reckless endangerment on Sunday during which someone threw a brick through a moving vehicle in Riverside, injuring a passenger inside.

Police are searching for a suspect, described as a "younger white male, with short blond hair." On Sunday, at approximately 3:45 pm, police say a 2011 Toyota Camry was heading northbound on Lake Avenue in Riverside. A passenger in a vehicle heading in the other direction allegedly leaned out the open window and threw a piece of brick or concrete at the Camry, hitting the windshield and shattering the glass on the passenger's side. The female passenger in the Camry was injured and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police say.

Desmond J. Bright, 31, of Flanders, was arrested June 7 at 9:10 a.m. in Riverside and charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, both misdemeanors, as well as being an unlicensed driver and littering, both violations. Police said Bright was pulled over for throwing garbage out the window while driving on Route 24 and misidentified himself to an officer.
