Crimes Nearby: Disabled Residents Robbed in Northampton

Police reported the following arrests between Oct. 6 and 16.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County, Southold Town and Riverhead Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village

A thief or thieves stole an American Express credit card from a wallet and a Tag Heuer watch from a locker at St. George's Golf Club on Oct. 7, according to police reports.

Police are investigating both incidents as separate grand larcenies. According to reports the credit card, which was later used at various stores, went missing between 12:30 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. The watch, whose owner valued it at greater than $1,000, disappeared from a locker between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. the same day.

Port Jefferson

Gregory Garabedian, 21, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Oct. 9 in Port Jefferson and charged with violent behavior. Garabedian was arrested on Arlene, Pl. for the alleged involvement in a fight.

Erin Tisch, 22, of Sayville was arrested Oct. 9 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with assault.

Keith Stetz, 24, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Oct. 7 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with two counts of petty larceny. Stetz was arrested for the alleged theft at Walmart located in Setauket.

Patricia Moran, 47, of Kings Park was arrested Oct. 6 in Port Jefferson and charged with third degree criminal tampering. Moran was arrested for allegedly vandalizing the front door of a home, and a 2011 Nissan in the driveway with lipstick.

North Fork

A 25-year-old Mattituck woman turned herself in to Southold Town Police last weekend after an iPhone was reported stolen from Radio Shack in Mattituck this past Friday at 6:35 p.m., police said. Investigation revealed that Jacqueleen Rosa of Sigsbee Road was in possession of the property and was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and was released on bail, police said.

Katie Wood, 29, of Riverhead was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Sunday at 8 p.m., after police investigated a claim from a 49-year-old Greenport woman that her Medicaid card had been stolen, police said. Further investigation revealed that Wood was in possession of the card, police said. She was processed and released on cash bail.

Riverhead

The former manager of a Northampton group home for developmentally disabled people was charged with petit larceny for allegedly stealing money from her wards, Southampton Town Police said.

Police said Nicole Leggon, 28, of Riverhead pocketed about $400 in cash from the residents of the Aid to the Developmentally Disabled home in Northampton between June 1 and Sept. 1. She was the house manager at the time, but is now unemployed, according to her arrest report.

Leggon was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, on Friday at 4:44 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays. The residents of the home were reimbursed for the losses, police said.

A Flanders man was arrested by Southampton Town Police and charged with numerous drug-related violations after police allegedly found he was carrying a quantity of drugs including PCP, heroin, marijuana and both crack and powered cocaine, on Saturday morning.

Natia Yisrael, 36, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation on Flanders Road in Riverside at 12:46 a.m, according to a police report. Police found he was carrying various illegal drugs and arrested him, police said.

Yisrael was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Jose Carabantes, 25, was arrested by on Sunday at about 10:35 p.m. in Water Mill and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license and failure to maintain lane, both infractions.

Police said he crashed head-on into another car on Montauk Highway, sending both drivers to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Carabantes was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi eastbound on Montauk Highway when he crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a 1989 Chevrolet pickup, Police said. and the Ambulance Company responded to the crash and transported both drivers to for non-life threatening injuries.

Because of his injuries, Carabantes was released at the hospital on an appearance ticket, pending future legal action, police said.
