Crimes Nearby: Riverhead High Students Charged in Gun Theft

Police reported the following arrests between Dec. 9-16.

The following arrest information was supplied by the police. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village

Reilly Zandes, 22, of Stony Brook, was arrested Dec. 13 at about 10 p.m. and charged with third degree assault for allegedly punching a man in the face near the intersection of Main Street and Gnarled Hollow Road in Setauket, causing lacerations. The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

Port Jefferson

Victoria Naplesagostino, 50, a homeless woman, was arrested Dec. 13 at about 11:40 p.m. and charged with third degree criminal trespassing. She allegedly entered a hotel room at without paying.

Christopher Laterza, 21, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested Dec. 14 at about 2 p.m. and charged with second degree burglary. He allegedly entered a Mastic Beach house through a bedroom window and stole property.

A 17-year-old minor, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested Dec. 12 and charged with fourth degree grand larceny: credit cards. The arrest comes from a Nov. 22 incident where she allegedly took credit cards and gas cards out of a locker at Comsewogue High School.

North Fork

Christopher Giardiello, 22, and Jennifer Cassano, 18, both of Manorville were charged with drug offenses on Dec. 9 at 12:44 p.m. in Mattituck after Southold Town Police stopped Giardiello for a traffic violation as he drove a 2008 Ford Mustang westbound on Sound Avenue in Mattituck, police said.

During the stop, police determined that Giardiello was driving with a suspended license. They noticed an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, police said. After a search of the vehicle, police found two small bags of marijuana and Xanax pills hidden inside the car, police said.

Giardiello was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Cassano was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Eleanor Roper, 56, of Cutchogue, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Dec. 14 at 9:37 a.m. after police stopped her for a traffic violation on Mill Lane in Mattituck, police said. Roper was found to be intoxicated, arrested and transported to headquarters where she was held pending arraignment.

Riverhead

Shannon Hofsiss, 25, of Riverhead, was arrested on Dec. 16 and charged with DWI, felony unlicensed driving, and a slew of driving violations after Southampton Town Police said the woman drove around closed road signs in Westhampton.

Hofsiss was seen driving around the signs at the corner of County Road 31 and County Road 104 at about 3:36 a.m. on Dec. 16, according to a police report. Police said they the driver and determined she was driving drunk. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a felony, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor, open container of alcohol, driving without a seatbelt and failure to obey traffic control devices, all violations.

Trever Jackson, 17, and Edward Durham, 18, both Riverhead High School students from Flanders, and Lundsford-Bailey, 21, of Greensboro, North Carolina, were arrested on Dec. 16 following an investigation into the Dec. 9 robbery of theft of three guns, a Playstation and $4,700 in cash from a Flanders home. Jackson and Durham were each charged with charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. Lundsford-Bailey was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
