Crimes Nearby: Smithtown Woman Smashes Car Windshield With Baby Inside

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County and Riverhead Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village

Ryan Smith, 19, of Setauket, was arrested March 11 in Old Field and charged with aggravated DWI. According to police, Smith crashed into a telephone poll while traveling northbound on Old Field Road.

Port Jefferson

Vastie Ferraro, 40, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Centereach on March 13 at about 1:10 p.m. and charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. At about noon on March 13, Ferraro allegedly lost control of his vehicle and drove up on the lawn of a home in Centereach. Police say that Ferraro fled the scene but police found him and he was arrested about an hour later.

Brian Glass, 51, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on March 15 at about 10:12 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police report that Glass was seated in the passenger seat of a car parked on Champlain Street when he was arrested.

Jeffrey Demonte, 50, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on March 15 at about 10:12 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police say that Demonte was in a car parked on Champlain Street when he was arrested along with Glass, above.

Riverhead

Armed with a baseball bat, 23-year-old Jasmin Camacho, of Smithtown, struck a car windshield on March 14 in Flanders, smashing it, while a baby and its parents were in the vehicle, according to police.

said the incident occurred on Brookhaven Road in Flanders at approximately 6 p.m. Camacho, along with her friend Sheena McCoy, 19, of Brookhaven, were arrested and detained at 8:03 p.m.
Camacho, who is from Smithtown, was charged with child endangerment, criminal mischief in the third degree and false personation, all misdemeanors.

Meaghan Kearns, 29, of Ridge, was arrested on March 15 on charges of petit larceny.

Police reports state that a Famous Footwear employee witnessed Kearns place a $70 pair of Nike sneakers in her pocketbook and leave the store without paying for them. The employee reported that she saw Kearns get into a yellow van with hardwood flooring in the back. The van was later stopped at the intersection of Route 58 and Osborn Avenue.

Reports state that Kearns was positively identified by the store employee, transported to police headquarters, processed, arraigned, and remanded to Suffolk County Jail on $500 bail.
