Drunk Driver Charged After Striking Man in Rocky Point

Teen charged with DWI after hitting a man with his car, causing broken bones and other serious injuries.

An 18-year-old man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car early Sunday morning on Magnolia Drive in Rocky Point.

The driver, a 17-year-old from Rocky Point, was charged with DWI after the accident, according to Suffolk Police.

Police said a group of teens were hanging out in a car on Magnolia Drive when one of the kids got out of the car, a 2003 Mitsubishi, and was accidently struck by the vehicle at approximately 1:48 a.m.

The victim was airlifted to with severe injuries including broken bones, internal injuries and cuts and scrapes, Police said.
