Tom, it happened when I was sleeping and they were driving by. Don't attack me for not reporting something that I could NOT have stopped. The actual accident occurred, not the behavior. The police were there for 4 hours because it was a crime scene and they needed warrants to search the car as well as forensics to collect evidence. Learn the facts before assuming.

No one here even knows the kids that were involved with this. Yeah it was a dumb ass thing to do obviously but don't judge somebody over a mistake. These kids are not losers they're actually very smart. Although they made one of the dumbest choices ever. They just need to have better common sense. The kid is hurt unfortunately but he is going to be okay which is what matters the most, so everyone just shut up

Hey Tom, your accusations are typical for a basement dweller who blames others for everything wrong with themselves and society as a whole. Ever stop and think that the commotion outside of Hauntedmansion's house is what propmted he/she to wake up and see the aftermath? You obviously have an issue with the police which would lead most to believe you are less than a model citizen and have had more than your fair share of brushes with the law. Police bashing is typical of minorities and the general criminal element, which you most likely are.
I personally find it unfortunate that Darwin had his back turned and none of these winners died.

I live on Magnolia and there is a lot of parking on that road that is dangerous in general - people parking on the wrong side of the road, kids in and out of cars, there seems to be a great deal of traffic everywhere ... not just on the corner of Forest and Magnolia where I reside ...

According to what I could hear from the investigation as well as friends of one of the kids in the car, he was car "surfing". How he got hit, etc is not something I am sure of. By the looks of things, he may have fallen while on top of the car and the car was still moving and hit him.

There is most definitely a LOT of traffic on that road. There is also a lot of speeding with people who drive up that street. In this case though, it was kids under the influence of alcohol late at night being reckless. You can't stop stupidity in a situation such as

My daughter hangs out with these kids sometimes. Through her girlfriends...and I consider my daughter a great kid...unfortunately..kids learn the hard way when something tragic happens. It happens to the best and worst....we were young once too and we can drill into these kids the right thing to do....but we live in a crazy world today...and they make their own choices and get burned....I only hope this scared my daughter enough to make the right choices....kids think it won't happen to them....its not about loser kids...even straight a athletes Nd the band kids. Are partying in this day ...sad world

The only problem I have with the police is what it's costing us for what they do. Oh buy the way I have police in my family. Second, not one person here said what time this thing happened. But I forgive you for not knowing more, not everyone is on top of things.

Tom if you read the article, the time of 1:48 A.M. is clearly stated. I don't know why this is a high priority point in this topic. Regardless, it was stated. You keep bringing up costs on police. Were you at this scene? No. I was. Did you see the police doing their job by the book? No. I did. I find it funny that someone who claims to know all of what happened based on grouping all accidents that has ever occurred on earth together as one has absolutely no understanding of what happened the other night. Before assuming and judging how the officers and others at the scene of the crime did their job, do your homework first.

Girlnextdoor, where are you getting your information that the body surfing was not happening? This particular story reported on the Patch is a small piece of what actually happened. I am sure the editor can attest to that as well. I mentioned body surfing because of what I was told from friends of the victim. I also know what evidence that was in front of my house along with what I actually witnessed the police and crime scene investigation team talking about. I don't know that it is entirely true, but I do know it was not just an innocent situation of a young boy at the wrong place at the wrong time. Just because you read this on here, you are now an authoritarian of this investigation? You are pointing fingers and accusing others of being immature when in FACT that this set of teenagers pulled a stupid stunt and not only got caught, but hurt. Anyone who drives under the influence of alcohol, as well as under age is far from intelligent.You call it cruel to point out the stupidity in these kids but it's a reality check that you won't admit to.

Girlnextdoor. Again, I am NOT sure that the body surfing is what happened. I find it interesting that you were at your window at 1:30 A.M. on a Friday night watching what happened. You, just like I did, most likely saw the victim on the ground after the fact and then the investigation afterwards. Maybe you were a part of the investigation. If you are neighbor or a passer by, then you don't know for sure either. I am a grown adult and got some of that information from my neighbor who is a friend of the victim. Basement dweller? No dear. If you would like, walk down to my house and you can talk to me in person as I assume you must live close by as well. Clearly, you're a neighbor who knows all. It's funny I don't recall seeing you outside at the scene. Don't accuse me for what you don't know. As for the "friends", I am in no way affiliated with them. As I said, they are neighbors. Just that. I do have a heart but the victim brought this on himself so I feel nothing for him. People make their own choices in life. If you choose to bring harm to yourself by a choice that is not only illegal but wrong on so many levels, then I have no sympathy for you. Had he just been an innocent pedestrian that was in the wrong place at the wrong time, then yes, I would feel awful. That was not the story. Stupid kids deserve no sympathy from me.

Why is everyone making this about all the she said, he said nonsense? Your going back and fourth over things overheard and presumed. Only those involved know the truth. We need to concentrate more on the issue involved(DRINKING AND DRIVING), instead of insulting each other. Take the energy your using to insult each other and use it for something important like making sure this doesn't happen again. That could have been you or your family member stepping out of that car. That could be your child driving under the influence. No one here is above imperfection.

He was drunk at 17! Do I need to continue with why he did bring this on himself?! Give me a break. How many neighbors are there for this crime anyway? I live literally in front of where the boy was? Last I checked, it leaves myself, and 2 others that were a part of where the crime scene tape was. I was there the ENTIRE time. So cut the judgmental bollocks. If you think I'm going to believe the passengers in the car story, you're quite wrong. Clearly the police didn't either which is why there was a 4 hour crime scene investigation with evidence collected as well. 17-18 year old drunks are not going to give you the entire story. You were not there. You are literally doing the hearsay game. So now I'm a dirtbag because I live in Rocky Point? I was up at 1:30AM because I heard a thump and a scream and about 4 police cars, 2 fire trucks, spotlights and countless cops were in front of MY house. Are you that retarded that you don't realize I was in the middle of a crime scene? I am not a passer by. I am working class in the medical field. I was off the next day because it's Saturday. But clearly, you're just looking to point fingers here because you have nothing better to do. Keep up the good work bashing. You're looking real good to all on here.

"the low lives of rocky point especially near the slums of hallock beach" While yes, there appears to be a unit of rentals at the end of Hallock Lane near the beach, I think sadly you are mis-informed as to just how pleasant, responsible, and hard-working the homeowners living around Hallock beach actually are. In fact, the homes in that general vicinity are some of the best examples of people restoring and rejuvenating the Rocky Point community. Furthermore I find your words..."Shame on you for being so judgmental" to be mostly hypocritical when your comments seem to be nothing but judgemental.

What does someone being awake at nearly 2:00AM on a Sunday have to do with work or having a job? Many people have Sunday off. The first line of attack from someone with a miserable life is to claim others are on some kind of "program" or assistance in order to make themselves feel better. All of yur posts indicate you are of low intelligence, regardless of what your family and friends tell you. Going through life with a double digit IQ must be bliss. You have no one on your side here, so please do what "Tom" and "HenryFord" have done by stepping away from their computers after having their asses handed to them by superior intellect, which is something you clearly lack. Exactly -- The issue here is DRUNK DRIVING not who was drunk the fact is that someone was injured by a DRUNK DRIVER that is not an ACCIDENT when you drink and drive you have BLATANT Disregard for others.

For all of you thinking you know what went on that night.. you are all judgemental and ignorant. All of the boys in the car were drunk including the one who stepped out. No one can assume what went on that night except them and even then im sure they all have different stories. Drinking under the legal age does not make them bad kids it just makes them not up to your standards. Some people over the legal age are too immature to handle drinking and some under it are more mature than the ones over it.. You cant judge someone by one stupid mistake or else you would think every person in this world was a horrible person because we all have made mistakes before.. no one is perfect. These boys have jobs, pay for their car, went to school everyday and were on sports. Just because they made the mistake of getting in a car while under the influence does not make them a bad person. If you were in high school now a days you would see that around every corner there is drinking or drugs. There are 13 year olds drinking today.. Its sad but that is our world. This mistake sadly happens all around the country every day and everyone that it happens to isnt a bad person.. They are good hearted kids and im sure they will never ever make this mistake again, and that is the point.. they learn their lesson and everyone moves on. Lets just be thankful that all of them are ok and learned a lesson here.

Jenn what you said is so true....all of our teens, with very few exceptions, find themselves in situations they are unfit to handle...Our youth make mistakes that can be irreversible. Do you know how much territory the cops cover. They can't be everywhere. They go to the Fire Departments when they get a break,which they are entitled too,just like you are at your job. They use the restrooms and maybe grab a minute to eat.What makes you think they should of been there?Did you know the car was going to hit that Man?What makes you think that they can be on every corner in every town at all times?

17 and drinking and driving. This is not good at all. I think we need to watch our children and keep an eye out for others kids also. I mean no one noticed this 17 year old was not only drunk but driving. I feel like we all should have some sort of social responsibility to say something..
