Update: Mount Sinai Man Arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Teacher at Eastport-South Manor School District teacher had inappropriate physical contact with a female student.

Eastport-South Manor Superintendent Mark Nocero said in a written statement, "The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.  The district has taken every action available to us under the law, and Mr. Argueta is no longer in the classroom."

At Argueta's one-story home Tuesday, one minivan sat in the driveway, blinds were closed, and a red, white, and blue patriotic star hung on the door. No one could be reached for statement.

Felipe Argueta, 35, of Mount Sinai was arrested Monday for inappropriate physical contact with a female student in the Eastport-South Manor School District.

Argueta, teacher at the school, made inappropriate comments and had inappropriate physical contact with the student, according to police. The school district held an internal investigation and after they determined the validity of the report made by the student earlier this year, suspended the teacher and notified police in May.

Suffolk County Police Special Victims Section detectives arrested Argueta at around 4:20 p.m. Monday and charged him with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 9.
