Nonprofit Offers Shelter to Disabled Couple Denied a Home
While a developmentally disabled couple that married in April remains in court with Port Jefferson Station-based Maryhaven and another nonprofit service provider for not allowing them to live together, one East End provider has offered the couple the opportunity to get out of court and into a home with one another.
Upon hearing about the litigation involving Paul Forziano and Hava Samuels, East End Disabilities Associates, based out of Riverhead, recently offered the couple the opportunity to live in a home where other couples currently live.

Twelve-term Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio has won his party's nomination in his bid for a 13th term, though only by a narrow margin.
Members of Smithtown's Republican Committee on Monday voted in favor of Vecchio by a margin of 74 votes, according to Newsday, over his challenger, Councilman Robert Creighton.
Creighton, who has drawn the ire of the town supervisor since his announcement to run, has vowed to primary the incumbent supervisor.
