Police ID Man Found Dead on Miller Place Beach
Queens teenager found dead has ties to MS-13 gang, police say.
Suffolk police have identified the man found dead on a Miller Place beach Wednesday as Queens resident Sidney Valverde.
Valverde, 19, had "sustained a significant head injury," police said.
Police said Valverde has ties to the MS-13 gang and has an extensive criminal history, according to a News 12 report.
Valverde had been reported missing to the NYPD and was last seen at his Jamaica home on Feb. 25. His body was found on the beach in front of the Miller Beach Surf Club, located at 23 Harbor Beach Road, by a man looking for driftwood shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Valverde was a "victim of violence." No arrests have been made.
