Police: Man Found Dead on Miller Place Beach

Man found Wednesday afternoon may have suffered a violent death, police say.

A man found dead on a Miller Place beach Wednesday afternoon appears to have been a "victim of violence," police said. 

Sixth Precinct officers were called to the beach in front of the Miller Beach Surf Club, located at 23 Harbor Beach Road, after a man looking for driftwood discovered the body of a man lying on the sand shortly before 4:30 p.m.  

A preliminary investigation by Physician Assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office indicates that the man was a victim of violence, police said.

An autopsy will be performed on the man, who has not yet been identified, police said.
