Rocky Point Superintendent Michael Ring said the district was notified of Pagano's arrest on Thursday afternoon.

"Prior to his December 2013 appointment, he cleared all background checks required for employment," Ring said of Pagano's hiring as an assistant coach. "This was his first season with the team and his only position within the district was in his part-time coaching capacity. He has been relieved of his duties as assistant coach."
