An early morning car crash in Central Islip on Thursday took
the life of a teen from Rocky Point.
Three teens were passengers in a car driven by Ulices Canessa Villatoro, 19, when Suffolk County police said the driver apparently lost control of the car, striking several trees on the side of road on Lowell Avenue, just south of Atlantic Street in Central Islip, just after midnight.
Andrew O’Connor, 18, of Rocky Point was in the rear driver’s side of the car and was critically injured. He was taken to Southside Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
George Shody, 17, who was a passenger in the rear seat and Canessa Villatoro, were treated at Southside Hospital for injuries. Canessa Villatoro suffered a fractured arm and possible fractured hip. Shody was treated for back injuries. A passenger in the front seat, Joel Fernandez, 18, was not hurt in the crash. The driver and two other teens are from Islip Terrace.
The car, a 2005 Acura TL, was impounded for a safety check. Police said an investigation is underway.
