Sound Beach Fire Destroys Garage

No injuries were reported from the blaze.

A fire in Sound Beach Friday afternoon destroyed a residential garage on Lloyd Road, according to fire officials.

The blaze, which started when a 1937 Dodge vehicle caught fire in the detached garage, didn’t spread to the house or cause any injuries, said Tommy Sternberg, first assistant chief at the Sound Beach Fire Department.

Sternberg said the fire was small and firefighters used minimal water to put it out. Because the home was difficult to get to, the department had to use a neighbor's driveway to park engines and trucks.
