Legis. Anker Named To Four Committees

Anker has been named Vice Chairperson of the Veterans and Senior Committee and a member of three others.

A week after being , Legis. Sarah Anker, D-Mt. Sinai has been named to four different committees, highlighted by becoming Vice Chairperson of the Veterans and Seniors Committee.

Anker was also named as a member of the Health and Human Services, Ways and Means and Environment, Planning and Agriculture committees.

“We can never do enough to repay our veterans for their heroic service to protect our freedom and our way of life,” Anker said after being selected. “Suffolk County has to do everything it can to assist our veterans and I fully intend to make sure Tom Ronayne, Director of the county’s  Veterans Service Agency, has the tools he needs to do his job.

"I will work closely with Holly Rhodes-Teague, Director of the County’s Office of the Aging, to ensure that our senior citizens are getting the services they need."

The Ways and Means Committee covers all matters relating to the day-to-day operations of county government. Her background as a former Director of the Town of Brookhaven Office of Energy and Sustainability and experience with health and environmental issues played a role in her selection for the other two committees.

“Legislator Anker brings key expertise to these committees, and that is exactly why I selected her to serve on these particular committees,” said Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay. “The people of Suffolk County will benefit greatly from her knowledge and talents.”
