Local Districts Face Proposed Budget Cuts of Over $4 Million Combined
Miller Place Would See $2.2 million cut.
Proposed budget cuts were handed down this week by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Miller Place and Rocky Point school districts would lose a combined $4.2 million for the fiscal year, which begins in April.
Miller Place's cut of $2,216,581 represents 3.58 percent of the 2010-11 budget, a 13.46 percent budget decrease.
Rocky Point faces a cut of $1,983,472 which is a smaller percent of last year's budget (2.97) but a larger percent decrease from last year (9.38) than Miller Place.

The cuts for Miller Place and Rocky Point are around the middle of the pack in Suffolk County, which would lose over $161 million. on Long Island at $16.2 million.
