Maertz Receives Democratic Group's First Endorsement

Jennifer Maertz, D-Rocky Point, recently announced that she has received an endorsement from the GLBT Democrats of Long Island (Formerly GLBT Democrats of Suffolk County); the group's first endorsement in 2012.

Maertz, having declared her candidacy in early February, was r, D-Noyack. That primary vote is scheduled for Sept. 13.

“I am proud to receive the support of the GLBT Democrats of Long Island, a well known and respected organization representing the Long Island Democratic community," Maertz said in a release from her camp. "I am truly honored that they have recognized my unwavering commitment to representing the interests of all constituents of the 1st Senate District."

According to the release, the groups endorsement concluded, “When elected, Jennifer will be a strong voice for ALL the constituents in the 1st Senatorial District and it’s an honor for us to stand with Jennifer Maertz and endorse and support her in this race.”
