Mt. Sinai Village Center Vote Set for Next Town Board

Brookhaven Town Board will vote on the Mt. Sinai Village Center at Tuesday's meeting.

The Brookhaven Town Board will vote on the proposed Mt. Sinai Village Center that has sparked debate in the community at Tuesday's meeting.

The proposed site for Mt. Sinai Village Centre is just east of the King Kullen shopping center on the south side of Route 25A in Mt. Sinai. The 30-acre property is owned by Soundview Realty. The plan has since its inception, including Councilwoman Jane Bonner, who has voiced her own concerns about the project.

In September, the Final Environmental Impact Statement was approved 6-1, with the nay vote coming from Bonner.

"I believe it’s wrong to accept this FEIS before we are done doing the environmental impact with the corridor study," Bonner said at the September meeting. "The community is very divided."
