Rental Permit Look-Up Now on Town's Website

Residents now have access to rental accessory apartment permits and registration on Brookhaven.org.

The Town of Brookhaven on Tuesday unveiled its online public rental registrations and permit look-up, which allows everyone to search for permits in all hamlets in the town.

The new tool lets users search by hamlet and street, giving the user all of the active accessory apartment and house rental permit on the street selected in the hamlet chosen.

Councilman Dan Panico, who led the effort to create the system, said that homeowners of rowdy rental homes "will no longer be hidden from public view by the old time consuming process of obtaining information about properties on their block and in their neighborhood."

According to a release from the town, this is another move in Panico’s housing enforcement initiative and in an effort of transparency, he wanted to make sure residents had the ability to know who was in their neighborhood.
