Town, Civic Eyeing Issues With Cedar Beach Bar

Brookhaven and the Mt. Sinai Civic will monitor the bar and grille this season.

After complaints by neighbors over loud music at the Cedar Beach Bar & Grille, the Mount Sinai Civic Association and the Town of Brookhaven will keep a close eye on the location this season, according to a report in the Village Beacon Record.

According to the report, the Town said that the grill has a special alcohol permit, but music is expected to be kept to a certain level and must stop by 10 pm. Security will be provided at the owner's expense from mid-May until the end of the season, the report states.

Other issues expressed at the recent civic meeting damage to gates at the west entrance of the beach that stop people from coming into the parking lot after hours.

I have been to this bar and grille many times. The patrons and employees are all very nice and respectable, the music is never too loud and can not be heard past a distance of maybe 20 feet onto the beach(and in all the times I was there it always stopped at 10PM). This type of business is what the beach needs on a Friday and/or Sunday night. Enjoy the sunsets and some good food...

I agree..people look for reasons to complain. They need to get a life.

Ditto. Have been there many times. What a great place - even better that it's right on the beach!! The woman that runs it is very nice and always a presence. The people that work there are very pleasant as well. The music is very tasteful and never too loud not to mention that everything ends by 10pm. (isn't that a town ordinance?) We finally have a nice summer place to go. Leave it alone! Our fabulous town needs to focus on more important issues!

Definately..guess the homeowners complain because they fear they lost their niche in life! What they should do is invite their friends, party, and enjoy..like they do on Dune Road!

Must be because of the type of music. Not their taste.

No more barn fires and fire works on the 4th of July to go along with the ban on music. What's fair is fair. Get a life and stop the BS
