With Lesko, A Job Well Done, Or Done Too Soon?

With Brookhaven town supervisor leaving his post, we ask locals to rate his job performance at the helm of Suffolk's largest town.

With Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko shocking constituents on Wednesday , locals face a topsy-turvy few months of campaigning for a special election.

But the question remains: How did Lesko do in his short tenure?

The former attorney won the office in a special election in 2008, after Brian X. Foley also skipped out on the post when he won a seat in the state assembly. Both Democrats barely made four years on the job.

Lesko, however, wasn't idle during his time in office. The supervisor has had to trim the town's budget, spearheaded the planning for a mixed-use project in Ronkonkoma along the area of the train station, and has had to get his hands dirty with the town's dump a few times, from ending the delivery of sewage sludge to the landfill to proposing a higher height limit there, a move that could net the town millions.

In the end, how Lesko will be remembered will be decided by those who lived in Brookhaven during his administration. So, how do you rate the job he did in town?

Let us know in the comments.

I feel the most important philosophical form of integrity, is to be a "person" of integrity. Commitments to his constituents may have clashed with political conditions that undermined his personal integrity. This above all, to thine own self be true.

Thank goodness this liar is leaving office! I doubt his "think tank" will accomplish much since he didn't accomplish much in his tenure other then tell lies to the residents of my area!

I don't know what to make of this development either. I took a look at the website for Accelerate Long Island. I googled each member of the board of directors. It includes the heads of Brookhaven Labs, Cold Spring Harbor Labs, Stony Brook,North Shore LI Jewish, LIPA, The Rauch Foundation,Hofstra, Computer Associates, two of Long Island's leading law firms, and a prominent Long Island venture capitalist.

Mark Lesko was really playing up to the T.V. station when he raided the animal cruelty house on Park St. in Yaphank-June 9,2010 What has happenned in the past 2 + years The house was condemmed, and boarded up for a while but no evidence of any clean up not even the yard where the weeds are growing 4 to 5 feet tall. The taxes are being paid by a bank so I guess diseased and dying animals reported to have all kinds of infections, including parasites is OK in the eyes of MARK LESKO.A house with small children exists 25-30 feet to the East of this nightmare at 65 PARK ST.
