I can't tell you how many times clients have asked me what they can do to get rid of that layer of “shine” that appears on their faces by mid afternoon.
One of the first things I recommend is that you switch to a gel cleanser instead of a cream based one. Creamy cleansers are for drier skin and can leave an oily residue. Also, only wash your face twice a day. If you over cleanse it, it will cause your skin to secrete even more oil.
Second, look to invest in a clay mask. The clay will absorb any excess oils and clear up any dirt and debris filled pores. I would use it once or twice a week depending on just how oily your skin is.
And lastly, invest in oil blotting sheets. I know Clean & Clear makes them and they’re reasonably priced compared to what other companies charge.
*Bonus Tip: One of the biggest misconceptions that people with oily skin have is that they don’t need to wear sunscreen. Big Mistake! Everyone needs protection against the sun’s strong UV rays. Just look to purchase a sunscreen that is gel based.
