With more stringent rules and regulations when flying, carrying certain products can be tricky. First and foremost, check with www.tsa.com to find out what you’re allowed to bring with you before you fly.
Most airlines allow nothing larger than 3.4 ounces and everything must be able to fit in a one-quart zip lock plastic bag. I prefer keeping my products with me in a carry-on bag as opposed to checking them. (I have no luck when I check my bag, my products usually open and it just turns into one giant mess! Not a very fun way to start your vacation).
As far as skin care products, I only bring what I need for my specific skin type: cleanser, moisturizer (preferably one that has sun protection already in it), toner, eye cream, and body lotion. Some people also bring night creams and facial masks. I prefer buying small jars and containers and labeling them as opposed to bringing my full size items with me. (You can get excellent deals at K-mart, Walmart, and Target for little travel containers.)
I use the Conair Travel Bottles 13 piece set. I bought mine at K-mart for cheap and they even came with pre-made stick on labels so I know what is what. For extra security you can even stick a piece of tape on the top of the containers to ensure they won’t open during your travels!
An important thing to consider is what the climate is like at your destination. Drier climates call for a heavier moisturizer. If you are planning a tropical getaway or even a ski trip, sunscreen is a MUST! (the sun reflects off of the snow and can leave you with a bad sunburn). Make sure your sunscreen hasn’t expired before you pack it. Same goes too for all of your other products.
Know those free samples you get from cosmetic counters in the mall? Save them! They are great to take with you and easy to pack. Some stores, such as Sephora, offer travel size mini’s of your favorite products which also make for easy packing.
