Students attend moving up ceremony before moving on to Joseph A. Edgar School.

250 second graders and their families gathered in the Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School gymnasium during the school’s annual moving-up ceremony on June 17.

The Rocky Point Rotary Club gave each studen a blue moving-up sash and a dictionary.

The school's Principal, Kenneth Crawford, is retiring at the end of the year after two years at FJC and 10 years at Joseph A. Edgar Elementary School. He spoke to the children about his retirement and offered them words of encouragement.

“You and I have something in common. I too am leaving FJC,” Crawford told the students. “Like you, I will miss the teachers, the support staff, and all the smiles and happy faces. Happiness is what matters, and I hope you continue to be happy at JAE."

Students Skylar Carrasquillo and James Camody delivered speeches about what they will miss most about FJC, along with what they are most looking forward to at JAE. Principal Crawford and Assistant Principal Dr. Courtney Herbert also recognized students who earned top scores in the National Geography Challenge.
