Award-Winning Videographers in Rocky Point

Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School fifth-grade technology club members have been learning about and utilizing a variety of high-tech equipment this school year.

To showcase the skills they have acquired as part of their involvement with the club, several students entered this year’s Super Thoughts video contest sponsored by Next Vista. For the contest, the students worked with club adviser Laurie Varriale to create 90 second or less videos teaching a concept one might encounter in school.

As a result of their submission, “One Way to Make a QR Code,” fifth-grader Jacey Ruisi and Ms. Varriale were named finalists in the collaboration category of the international contest. A set of judges from around the world will now review their video and select a winner for each category over the coming weeks. Winners will be announced in mid-June and will be awarded a certificate and a gift card.
