UPDATE: Board of Ed Candidates Set in Rocky Point, Miller Place

Six candidates in Rocky Point and Miller Place vie for a seat on their respective board, new BOE President possible for both districts.

Editors Note: Original candidate for Miller Place, Gail Ports, withdrew. She was replaced on the ballot by her husband, Douglas Ports.

The candidates for the Board of Education election, which will take place during the budget vote on Tuesday, May 17, are set in Miller Place and Rocky Point school districts.

There are three open seats in Miller Place with President James Moran and Vice President Angela Guido not returning for the 2011-12 year and incumbent Ann O'Brien up for re-election. The candidates are:

In Rocky Point, six candidates will vie for two open seats as President Michael Nofi and Vice President Diane Burke are up for re-election.

Rocky Point's "Meet the Candidates" night is set for Thursday, May 5. Miller Place's will be held on Tuesday, May 10.
