Board of Ed Nominees Set in Local Districts

Candidates vie for vacant Board of Education seats up for vote May 15.

Along with the school budget votes on May 15, residents will also be asked to vote for the open seats on their district's Board of Education. After seats expire on June 30, those elected will officially take over.

Miller Place

The Board of Education has just one seat open. Incumbent Michael Unger will run again and he will run unoposed.

Rocky Point

Two seats are up for re-election. Incumbents John Lessler and Scott Reh are seeking re-election while two first-timers have stepped up to run against them

Shoreham-Wading River

The seats of Michael Fucito and Leo Greeley are open, and while Fucito is seeking re-election, Greeley is not. Two men will challenge Fucito and battle for the other vacant spot.

Mt. Sinai

Donna Compagnone and Michael Di Marco's seats are open, and Compagnone will only seek re-election. Di Marco announced after the candidates submission deadline that he would not seek reelection, so by law the district was required to extend the deadline and three new candidates will now appear on the ballot, Lynn Capobianco, Deborah Lang and Marnie Kula.
