Community Raising Money for Miller Place Teacher Who Lost Home in Fire

Teachers, community members accepting donations to help family.

After an and her family lost their home in a fire last week, her colleagues and the community are stepping up to raise funds to help out.

While she and her family, who wish to remain private, are all safe, they lost everything in the fire. The Miller Place PTO along with the Miller Place Teachers are asking for support in helping the family.

On March 10, the Miller Place PTO Basketball league will be holding its championship games at the for the boys and girls competitive divisions and a coaches game for any PTO coach that would like to play will also be hosted. The PTO will be taking donations for the family at the event, which begins at 5 p.m.

"We feel this is a great opportunity to show how our community can work together for one of its own," a letter from the PTO read.

Donations can be made by contacting Nancy Sanders at AMPS or calling Ray Klotz at 631-978-6347 to arrange dropping off your donation.
