Miller Place Resident Receives Achievement Award in Dallas

The Physical Therapy Student Achievement Award was presented to Rachel Orifici of Miller Place this past month.

The Department of Physical Therapy at Misericordia University recently presented the Physical Therapy Student Achievement Award to Rachel Orifici of Miller Place, during the Doctor of Physical Therapy Recognition Ceremony in Lemmond Theater at Walsh Hall in Dallas. 

This award is no small feat. According to the assistant director of marketing communications for the university, Paul Krzywicki, this program takes almost seven years to complete.  

"The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Misericordia University is a 6½-year professional program in which students receive a bachelor’s degree and a doctor of physical therapy degree," said Krzywicki.

Additionally, the first 3 1/2 years of study are devoted to programs like biology and business. Afterwards, if the students get accepted into the Misericordia program, they become first-years students and are receive guaranteed acceptance into the graduate program as long as they are in good academic standing.

Orifici received the award from Susan Barker, P.T., Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Misericordia University.
