Miller Place Supe Cites Security, Safety in Proposed Closed Campus

Closed campus proposed for Miller Place; students oppose.

Miller Place Superintendent Marianne Higuera has proposed a closed campus for the upcoming school year, citing opened doors as a security gap, as well as the dangerous Route 25a intersection seniors must travel, according to a report in The Village Beacon Record.

Higuera hopes to make the change in the fall, but at a recent board of education meeting, Miller Place High School junior Dan Letterio presented a petition signed by more than 150 students opposing the change.
