Neyland has four children in the district; a graduating senior, freshman, kindergartener and a pre-schooler with special needs set to enter the district in September.

“After a long search for a place we’d like to raise our family, my wife and I fell in love with this community and school district,” Neyland said. “My older children have been active in school sports, the school music programs, various clubs and activities, and have benefited from many wonderful teachers who have influenced their lives.”

Neyland, who is running alongside Mike Arnold, said one aspect of importance is to keep the school district “college competitive” by maintaining AP classes and extracurricular activities.

“I will always fight to keep these programs intact, therefore available to provide the edge our children need to become viable candidates to even the best schools,” he said. “I am an advocate for these programs because of the benefits they provide our children both short and long term. Our children’s futures depend on the decisions we make now.

While Neyland, has extensive financial expertise, he wants to make it known that that is not the only reason he would be the right choice for the board.

“I am more than just a person with extensive experience in the financial industry,” he said. “As a result of my own personal experiences, I am one who is likely to understand what is important to you and what is important to your children.”

Neyland has children who have gone through the district and are just entering, and believes that their varied ages interests and abilities leave him in a position with much in common to the majority of the community.
