PHOTO: Miller Place Students Learn the Dangers of Substance Abuse

Guest speaker teaches students about substance abuse.

North Country Road Middle School students recently participated in a two-part presentation on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

John Venza, Vice President of Adolescent Services at the Outreach Training Institute, spoke to students about the physical and mental harm that drug and alcohol abuse can cause. The following day the students were joined by residents of the Outreach house who shared their personal testimonials and troubled pasts.

Thank you Miller Place so much for having this much needed presentation for our Miller Place Community youth. Please ,do come on April 22 at 11 am to our North Shore Community Forum at our sight at NSYC. the Suffolk County Task Force will be available to answer questions concerning substance abuse along with local parents speaking about the signs of abuse . How about SCPD go undercover & bust all the kids dealing various illegal & prescription drugs ? It's infiltrated NCRS as well as the miller place high school Drugs are so prevalent it's insane . A speech is nice but how about some actual law enforcement & the random occasional drug sniffing dog which would probably scare over half of the jr. thugs dealing & using this stuff as well as their derelict parents
