fourth and fifth-grade intermediate chorus, under the direction of choral instructor Craig Knapp, acquired a “Gold with Distinction” rating for their Level 2 program performance at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Organization Evaluation Festival held at Longwood Junior High School.
The fifth-grade select chorus, High Notes, received a “Gold” rating for their Level 3 performance as well.
“Earning such awards confirms what I already know about the students and music program at JAE," Knapp said. "The students certainly deserve this recognition.”
During the competition, the choruses sang three selections and were judged by two certified NYSSMA Major Organization adjudicators. The students were evaluated on tone, intonation, balance, technique, accuracy of execution, diction, interpretation and influencing factors.
