Rocky Point Board of Ed Incumbents Re-Elected

Michael Nofi, Diane Burke re-elected for second term.

Rocky Point Board of Education incumbents and were re-elected Tuesday along with the .

Nofi was on the board for the last three years and served as the president for the past two years. Burke is also going into her second term and was the vice president for past term.

Voters showed their support for Nofi and Burke, who helped the district adopt a budget that maintained all academic and co-curricular programs while eliminating just one teacher position, despite the loss of just under $2 million in state aid.

"I think it is an acknowledgement of what we've accomplished to date and we really appreciate the support of the community and their recognition of the hard work that was done," Nofi said.

The incumbents were opposed by four first-time candidates; , , and . Dallon came in third place with 420 votes followed by Heely with 392, Moscatiello with 258 and Longman with 88.

"We're looking forward to continuing what we started," Burke said. "We sent our district in a direction that we're proud of and I vow to continue in that direction. I am overwhelmed by the support that I've received from the community.
